HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, THE PRINCE OF ASTURIAS, WELCOMES THE CUATRO RAYAS-AGRICOLA CASTELLANA WINERY TO THE ZARZUELA PALACE

The Winery‘s President presented the Gold Insignia of the Cuatro Rayas-Agricola Castellana Winery to His Royal Highness, the Prince of Asturias on the occasion of its 75th Anniversary.

Valladolid, April 20, 2010. - Last Friday, the Governing Board of the Cuatro Rayas-Agricola Castellana Winery, led by its President, Fernando Prieto, and accompanied by the Winery‘s Manager, Department Heads, Union Leaders, and Past Presidents of the last 30 years were received by His Royal Highness, the Prince of Asturias, in the Zarzuela Palace in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Cooperative. 

During the reception, Fernando Prieto presented Prince Felipe with the Winery‘s Gold Insignia and underscored that this gathering in the Zarzuela Palace "constitutes a recognition of the cooperative‘s track record".  For his part, the Prince of Asturias expressed interest in the Winery‘s history and was grateful for the Gold Insignia as well as for the various other gifts presented to him, among them a vine of the Verdejo variety, one of the symbols of the Winery‘s identity.   With its 75 years, Cuatro Rayas is the leading winery in sales of the D.O. Rueda, a distinction achieved thanks to the widespread acceptance of its wines among the consumers and opinion leaders.  Its success is built on a commitment to quality honored for many years, on the ambitious investment in state of the art machinery, and on a technical department, headed by enologist Angel Calleja, dedicated to the criteria of excellence.
