Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias continues to garner accolades, this time earning a Silver Medal at the 2016 Manojo Awards announced this Friday at the awards ceremony celebrated in the Tordesillas area of Valladolid. This is a newly introduced wine that honors Angel Calleja, the Winery‘s enologist.
In just its first three months on the market, Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias has earned three significant awards: a Gold Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles held in Plovdiv in April, a Silver Bacchus awarded by the Winetasters Association of Spain in May, and now the Silver Manojo prize. The Manojo Awards are presented by the Regional Association of Agricultural Cooperatives of Castilla and Leon (URCACYL). They are a hallmark in the wine sector, which year after year recognizes the accomplishments and evolution of cooperative wine in our country.
In Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias, renowned enologist Angel Calleja, who celebrated his 40th harvest in 2015, has brought his 40years of mastery to work upon a select choice of grapes grown from 40 year old vines. Aged on the lees for some five months, this fresh and potent Verdejo is a historic slice of Rueda‘s harvests and passion for wine and figures to become one of the Winery‘s emblematic offerings. Intensely aromatic and with much structure, this wine is offered exclusively through the hotel and restaurant trade and at the finest wine shops. This wine has become a new standard bearer for the Valladolid winery and is sure to earn an essential spot on pub and restaurant wine lists, where Verdejo from the Rueda appellation is the Spanish white wine winning over consumers at home and abroad.
