Bodega Cuatro Rayas, a synonym of tradition and avant-garde in the DO Rueda, has assessed the 2016 harvest, a campaign that has been marked by "a normal production within the history of the winery in a context in which Rueda has broken its record number of kilos", as noted by the veteran oenologist Ángel Calleja, who has accumulated forty harvests to his credit developed with the verdejo grape. "The campaign was longer and began a little later than that of 2015, although ultimately the dates were normal for the denomination," says Calleja who points out that the harvest began on September 12 and ended on October 18.
In the opinion of the oenologist, this year‘s grapes will allow the production of great wines. "The health and organoleptic quality of the grape has been excellent. Very healthy and of great quality. The 2016 wine will be one of intense aroma and very good volume on the palate".
According to the wine-grower José Martín del Campo, technical director of the Bodega Cuatro Rayas vineyard, in this 2016 harvest, “the vineyard, the climate, the member wine-growers and the workers in the winery have all collaborated to be able to achieve a perfectly prepared and coordinated campaign".
