Dusseldorf (Germany), March 20, 2017.
Bodega Cuatro Rayas presented on Monday a Verdejo destined to carve a niche among the most prestigious premium wines from Spain. The wine, called Amador Diez, in honor of the former president of the winery for two decades, one of the most respected figures by the wine growers and winemakers from DO Rueda, represents the craftsmanship of the winemaking firm whose origins are rooted back in 1935. Amador Diez is a unique wine as it is made from an exceptional raw material: a selection of the best grapes from the oldest pre-phylloxera vineyards at the winery, over 100 years of age, comprising a total of 10 hectares in the province of Segovia.
Angel Calleja, the Cuatro Rayas winemaker, was responsible for presenting to the press and importers of premium products worldwide, this white wine made from pre-phylloxera grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts from the winery itself. This Verdejo cuvée has been stirred on its lees for eight months in new 600-liter French oak barrels. "Its lemon color with greenish Verdejo is intense on the nose, very elegant and creates the perfect harmony between the fruit load of the variety and the contribution of it stay in oak barrels", he told the audience gathered at the trade fair in the German city. "It is well-structured, buttery and voluptuous," added the veteran winemaker. It is a unique product in Spain and it also features a very innovative and yet artisan presentation, as the label is made from wood.About Prowein
