.-Cuatro Rayas Winery has won three new medals, one gold for Cuatro Rayas Sauvignon and two silvers for Cuatro Rayas Verdejo and Palacio de Vivero Verdejo, respectively, at the prestigious international competition Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada. These awards add up to the prizes held by Cuatro Rayas’ wines and confirm the quality of the winery’s varieties.
The competitions Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada is the the most important wine competition in North America. Moreover, it is one of the oldest and most important wine competition in the world that takes place under the patronage of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) and the World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits competition (VINOFED) which ensures the authenticity and high quality of wines and spirits that obtain awards, and gives the producers the assurance that its products have been assessed according to standardized guidelines by competent international tasters strengthening consumer confidence by guaranteeing the high quality of the award-winning products. was awarded with gold medals in 2015 and 2016 editions at the Berliner Wein Trophy; this wine comes from French Sauvignon Blanc varietal vines between 15 and 20 years old, planted in alluvial soils of the Designation of Origin Rueda. : These two wines are produced with sorted Verdejo variety grapes coming from a delicate combination of different estates and vineyard terrains located in D.O. Rueda. They exhibit a powerful nose, with hints of fresh fruit, green apple, hay and honeyed reminiscences. Refreshing, balanced and sweet-toothed on the palate, round and very fruity, they have character and a unique, delicate fennel finish that reaffirms the personality of the Verdejos from which they come.
