La Seca (Spain), 20 October 2017
Cuatro Rayas Winery got two new medals, one Gold for Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios, that was recently appointed as Best of Show Rueda in the last edition of Mundus Vini, and a Silver for Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias in the prestigious San Francisco International Wine Competition. These awards add up to the prizes held by Cuatro Rayas’ wines and confirm the quality of the Verdejo wines of the winery. The San Francisco International Wine Competition
is one of the most prestigious international wine competitions in America. This 2017, the panel of judges consisted of more than 50 wine experts, e.g. sommeliers, distributors, ‘masters of wine’, and critics, among others, who, over several days, with a blind-tasting system decided which are the best wines in the world in the 37th edition. Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios
is a wine produced from our oldest vineyards –around 100 years old (the youngest are around 80) and some of them pre-phylloxera vines—, and using the most traditional harvesting and winemaking methods, that provide the balance and elegance of the Verdejo variety. Also, another of the gems of D.O. Rueda, Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias
, produced with grapes from more than 40-year-old gobelet-trained vines, is a piece of history of the mastery of the winemaker Ángel Calleja in the Designation of Origin Rueda.About Cuatro Rayas Winery
located in the heart of Rueda, it accounts for 20% of the production in the Designation of Origin. The members own more than 2,300 hectares of vineyard. Since the foundation in 1935, it has been a pioneer adopting the new trends in viticulture and winemaking. The constant investments in technology, marketing, communication and expertise make the winery a benchmark in the production of Spanish white wines, and worldwide.
