La Seca, D.O. Rueda (Valladolid), 19 November 2018.- Cuatro Rayas Winery reveals the new labelling of their flagship from 2018 Vintage. A vintage that will be soon available through restaurants, bars and regular points of sale, both in the national market and in the numerous international markets where it is present. The redesign of the range Cuatro Rayas ‘Night harvest’ –which mainly refers to the varieties of DO Rueda Verdejo and Sauvignon, although DO Ribera del Duero manual harvested Tinto Roble has also been included in the aesthetics line– has at its basis the peculiarities of the viticulture in Rueda. In this DO, for years, they performed a night mechanical harvest, with the objective to prevent must oxidation, and uncontrolled fermentation thanks to the low night temperatures. This harvest allows obtaining an ideal sugar and acidity balance.
In this new line of labelling, where we retain the essence of the previous brand colours, the finishing and textures created from key concepts become more important. The four lines characteristic of the brand now stand out in the paper with a blind emboss; from a bird’s eye view, these lines shape four rows of a vineyard, bearing the weight of the product, the wine, the brand. Also, thanks to a split and more enveloping structure, we achieve a more traditional aesthetics, even though the whole design exudes modernity.
Moreover, we implemented a clearer and more eye-catching font; the brand lies over a stamped texture created to simulate the sparkle and glints of the typical gravel found in the soils where these wines grow. In addition to a composition where volumes and different textures are fundamental for the customer to touch and feel the brad, there is the fact that when you overlap the three labels of the three varieties of the range in order, they create the characteristic waveform of the brand. The purpose of the details is to allow wine lovers to see a clear evolution and improvement, but never to forget that these are the same wines, produced with the same high quality and the usual know-how.
A brand synonymous with the Verdejo from Rueda
Nowadays, the Cooperative winery Agricola Castellana is known as Cuatro Rayas, but also these both words show off the main wine ranges of the cooperative. However, many people don´t know the origin of this name, which is nothing but the name of the plot of land at the junction of the four areas that, according to the elders in the mid-twentieth century, produced the best grapes: La Seca, Rodilana, Medina del Campo and Rueda. The known Pago de las Cuatro Rayas (Four Borders Plot) is a place entailing an intermediate point, which, to some extent, is symbolic.
