The hospitality industry-exclusive brands obtained 92 points (Verdejo, Cuvée and Ribera del Duero) in the 2020 Peñín Guide
La Seca, 3 September 2019.-
Cuarenta Vendimias range, which was released in 2016 and in recent years amounted to four brands made with different varieties and from two Designations of Origin (Rueda and Ribera), got 92 points in the 2020 Peñín Guide, in three of its wines: Cuarenta Vendimias Verdejo, Cuarenta Vendimias Ribera del Duero, and Cuarenta Vendimias Cuvée.
Peñín Guide, whose purpose is the promotion of Spanish wineries and wines, is one of the most comprehensive and renown guides at national and international level. Each year they taste more than eleven thousand wines, which ultimately makes it the industry’s most comprehensive manual for professionals and amateurs. The recognition of these three Cuarenta Vendimias wines with 92 points in this last edition reaffirms their quality and the expertise of the Cooperative from La Seca. Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias
made with grapes coming from 40-year-old goblet-trained vines in gravelly soil. On the nose shows white and stone fruit aromas, over a background of undergrowth and balsamic undertones and hints of fennel. On the palate it is perfectly balanced. This score should be added to other awards, including Gold at the Berliner Wein Trophy, Gold at Seléctions Mondiales des Vins Canada and Gold at Gilbert & Galliard. Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias Cuvée
, the white wine that debunks the myth that Verdejo wines must be consumed within the year. Intense and complex on the nose, where hallmark aromas of the variety appear, including fennel and tree fruit, and a subtle hint of spices acquired by the short oak barrel ageing. Balanced and mouth-filling on the palate. It adds to its list of triumphs: Gold at the Berliner Wein Trophy, Gold at the Mezquita Awards, 95 points (gold) at the International Wine Challenge and Gold at Gilbert & Gaillard. Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias Ribera del Duero
, Tempranillo wine with ten-month barrel ageing; it has a deep cherry colour, aromas reminiscent of liquorice and ripe black fruits: mulberry and ripe plum hints over a background of spices very well balanced with mocha and roasted flavours from the barrel. Powerful on the palate with complexity and structure, sweet and well-balanced tannin, with flavours reminiscent of blackberry and spicy nuances appearing on the finish.
