Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias Verdejo gets a Gold at the Magnum Awards

The international competition—which celebrated its 11th edition at the EEC Spain (Spanish Wine Tasting School)—recognises the quality of the world’s best wines bottled in a double-size bottle

11 December 2019, La Seca (Valladolid). – On 29 November, Madrid hosted the wine tasting final of the International Magnum Awards, where 71 wines coming from Spain, Italy, Romania, Portugal and France competed to be recognised for their quality in this size.

An international jury of 13 specialists on sensory analysis agreed to award the Gold medal to Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias Verdejo 2018 from Bodega Cuatro Rayas in the category of Still White Wines, acknowledging the excellence of this wine made with grapes coming from over 40-years-old vineyards.

Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias Verdejo has a lemon yellow colour with greenish highlights; it is intense and clean on the nose with strong fennel and undergrowth aromas. On the palate, it is fatty and long; a wine very well structured and with great persistence that is a perfect pair with rice, fish, pasta, and white meat dishes.

Magnum Awards

The International Magnum Awards—organised by Alamesa Wine & Beer Action Marketing and Concursosdevino.com—has recognised for over ten years the quality of the wines bottled in a double-size bottle, which has great acceptance among the general public and high market penetration in the hospitality industry. In the opinion of the experts, Magnum bottling improves the quality of the wine significantly.

The goal of these awards, supported by the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine), is not just to reward the excellence of the world‘s best wines in this double-size bottle, but to disseminate the benefits of the Magnum size and increase its presence in the various distribution areas.
